ALBERTINA 2020?

Modigliani Picasso: La révolution du primitivisme

NEXT ONE?

Tides begin to calm down after the scandal in Genoa, just another desperate intent to control the market.
(yes we are talking about market,  just money not about art history, sorry but is the raw & sad reality)

Now is time for museums to reconsider the role they play in this mess.

The French "expert" said, "it is the role of museums to legitimize false Modigliani's". Well, is a Museum obligation to decide if they are fakes or not,
never let that role to an expert working for the market (that is exactly where all the problems come from)

I have clear that the role of a museum is EDUCATION and CONSERVATION, never the role of a slave of economical interest used to increase prices of works.
A Museum should never be used to increase prices and that is what we see every time Modigliani is in display...

We must not leave in the hands of "market" experts the legitimacy of works of art.

The NEXT is brewing now and in this case it will hit the Albertina in my beloved Vienna in 2020 with an exhibition entitled
"Modigliani Picasso: La révolution du primitivisme" with the curatorial "service" of the French expert who calls himself the only valid MARKET expert.

I suppose not like Genoa, probably more similar to what happened in Bonn by the hand of Parisot in 2009.

My question: "is it the role of museums to increase prices and give credit to sell works?

PARISOT: months before the Bonn exhibition, lenders began to announce works for sale (even in the press) with the endorsement "included"  for the Bonn show.
RESTELLINI: 2 years before the exhibition we can find works for sale with the endorsement "included" for Vienna show.

Just a sample of the drawings for auction in recent months:

The Bonn exhibition ended with complaints to the press about the supposed falseness of exhibited works & the use of the museum to increase PRICES .
Vienna will start practically the same with museum prestige as market endorsement and with collaborators ofRestellini saying "false" to a work that will be in that exhibition.

Carlo Pepi, actual fan of Restellini, ex fan of Parisot, friend of Jeanne claims portrait of Picasso with the expertise by Restellini is fake

Of course I have no idea if this work is authentic or false, that is far above my abilities and skills, that should only be determined by a museum expert with the skills to decide it, never by an expert involved in the market

Rats are always the first to abandon a ship when it sinks (in this case and metaphorically speaking the adorable rodents are the two big auction houses Sotheby's & Christie's)
Actually they don´t even mention Restellini
Just an example of the last 3 by each major (by date & importance):

Sotheby's 1 - no mention
Sotheby's 2 - no mention
Christie's 1 - no mention
Christie's 2 - no mention
nude amedeo modigliani Nude amedeo modigliani

3otheby's 3 - 157.159.000 € record
This is specially to note, the last grandeur work for auction in 2017
In the auction catalogue bibliography the next names:
Ceroni ( father and daughter) / Lanthemann / Dalevèze / Hall / Castieau-Barrielle / Schmalenbach / Patani / Parisot
Kruszynsk / Cartier / Csorba / Cocteau / Taguchi / Schürer / Pfannstiel / Schwarz / Salmon / Soto Caba
etc.

RESTELLINI, not even a simple mention
Christie's 3 - 170.405.000 USD record
This is special to note, the most expensive Modigliani ever sold in 2015

How will Vienna end?
Will Schröder end like Vitali?
The museum's prestige?

Will see the results in 2020...

To set it clear I contacted Mr. Schröeder, director of the Albertina past month and he declined to comment, from his communication department Miss Schmidt kindly answered only the next:

1.- There is no information on the webpage of the museum, a press release will be provided at the beginning of 2019.

2.- At this point we do not release information about wich works will be included in the show, the planning of the exhibition is still going on and we will not comment any speculations.
(I do not know what this means, the works in auction sold with that endorsement are a speculation?)

3.-We hope you will get an impression of the Albertina museum's concept soon and visit our exhibition personally.
Yes I will...

More to come...
