Notes

Not listed in the D’Atri papers?

Holes are visible at the four corners of the support.

An X-radiograph of another late portrait (the so-called Burgundian woman) has been published with a sketch related to this seated composition.

This investigation compares the dress with other Hébuterne portraits dated 1918 and 1919.

The documentation assembled for this investigation marked several fields as still being checked. The facts above are those already published; where sources disagree, both readings are given.
