- Italian art historian, he was the hand behind the Gualino collection ( the main collector in Modigliani in Italy, dispersed during the Mussolini's regime). He was the organizer of the Venice Modigliani retrospective in the 30's mainly with works owned by Gualino (the 1930s Venice retrospective drew largely on the Gualino holdings). After refusing the Fascist oath he left Italy, working in Paris, Argentina, Mexico and the United States

His work is more focused in French impressionism and Italian general art than in Modigliani, but there are a few publications quite interesting and he as many others made "authenticity certificates" on demand

A painting documented only by Venturi is not treated as sufficient by the major auction houses. Such listings appear mainly in secondary Italian sales.
